The Jefferson County Health Department conducts on-site individual well and soil absorption system performance evaluations at the request of the homeowners, buyers, lenders, and realtors for a fee. These evaluations include a well head protection check, water bacteriological collection and testing as well as a dye test and field walkover of the septic tank and soil absorption system. To finalize all evaluations the requesting individual or agency must provide a septic tank pump out receipt after the evaluation that includes comments as to the internal condition of the tank and its baffle system.
