Education
The Jefferson County Health Department conducts educational training classes for all food service workers on the basics of food preparation, personal hygiene, cleanliness, hot holding of food, cooling of food, date marking of food, storage of food etc. This training can be done through the food safety video that is available on the health department website. On-site training is also done at the time of the inspection. Also, food managers and the Person In Charge are trained in Serv-Safe classes by the health department. It is up to the individual establishment to do more intense training within each individual job description. The health department also assists and reviews in HACCP plans for establishments to meet their special need.
