The Jefferson County Health Department inspects and permits temporary/mobile food service establishments and vending machines to ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed.

A temporary food service concession is a food establishment that operates at a fixed location for a period of time not more than 14 consecutive days in conjunction with a single event or celebration, such as a fair, festival, carnival or similar transitory gathering. Each food concession in operation during an event open to the public must obtain a permit from the health department and post the inspection in the food service concession.

The health department will ask for and review prior to granting a permit for the following: concession construction, types of foods to be prepared, how the food will be prepared, methods to keep foods hot or cold, hand washing facilities and utensil washing procedures.
